Finding multiple safe and effective vaccines against COVID-19 is part of the global response to the coronavirus pandemic, helping to ensure we can protect everyone from the disease. Across the Wessex region, researchers, healthcare professionals and support staff are helping us to deliver vital COVID-19 vaccine studies. In 2020/21, we recruited more than 93,000 participants to just under 500 studies. Participation levels were more than double that of 2019/20, rising by over 56,000 to help Wessex surpass a key milestone of recruiting more than 500,000 participants to NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN)-supported research studies since 2008.
