Welcome to the Patient Recruitment Centre: Exeter
We are dedicated to setting up and delivering late phase commercial clinical trials in the NHS at pace and scale. We are one of five national Patient Recruitment Centres that work collaboratively, through an innovative national franchise-like model, to make it easier and quicker to deliver commercial research in the UK.
By attracting more commercial research to the UK, we also increase opportunities for NHS patients to access cutting edge treatment and therapies that are not yet widely available through the NHS. We work across the region, through our partners and stakeholders, to ensure as many people as possible are given an opportunity to take part.
PRC: Exeter is hosted by the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust, an organisation with a proven track record of successful clinical trial delivery across all trial phases and across a broad range of clinical specialties. We are committed to research for the benefit of our patients and the wider population.
We are a large Acute Teaching Hospital with twelve community sites, providing acute and community services to a core population of 450,000. Close working and collaboration with Primary Care sites extends this reach to 1.25 million people in the wider Devon Clinical Commissioning Group area. Our experience working with other NHS providers and charitable partners has enabled us to successfully deliver across health sectors and health conditions.
Our service is designed with the research participant at the heart of what we do. From ensuring our Centre is welcoming and accessible, to providing dedicated one to one clinical contact, we aim to deliver a personalised medical experience for everyone who enrols in a research study.
We draw on the significant experience of the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust in the set-up and delivery of commercially funded clinical trials. We have excellent working relationships with the top Clinical Research Organisations and are recognised as a site who can deliver studies effectively, opening to recruitment quickly and efficiently and achieving agreed recruitment targets on time. Our processes are informed by robust feasibility assessments, based on a sound knowledge of our clinical services and referring population. Our skilled team of delivery and professional services staff provide consistent and comprehensive support in the management of all our research activity.
The national Patient Recruitment Centre initiative provides us with an opportunity to build on our past successes in the pursuit of research development in the South West Peninsula. With the engagement of our population, collaboration across sectors and close working with the life sciences industry, we strive to increase the breadth and spread of research opportunities for our population for the benefit of the South West and the wider environment.
