We offer a wide range of services to support the delivery of clinical research across the North East and North Cumbria.

This includes supporting you and your study, helping to develop your workforce, increasing the opportunities for patients to take part in research and raising the profile of research in the area.

Study Delivery

We have a team in place to support research delivery. This team includes staff with expertise in Chief Investigator support, study set up, commercial studies and primary care. Engagement

Learning and Development 

We are committed to delivering high quality training to research staff throughout our region, that are involved in the conduct of studies accepted onto the NIHR CRN Portfolio.

Access to such training enables research staff to understand their own roles and responsibilities and to conduct studies to the highest ethical and scientific standards.

MedConnect North

MedConnect North is a joint initiative funded and supported by NIHR Clinical Research Network North East and North Cumbria and the Academic Health Science Network North East and North Cumbria.

MedConnect North aims to offer a bespoke service to small and medium sized enterprises, National and International Medical Technology Companies, providing guidance and assistance throughout the Medical Technology Research and Innovation Pathway. The group supports companies to form partnerships with Academia and the NHS in the North East and North Cumbria region. In addition, MedConnect North supports NHS staff to encourage, drive and develop innovation, within their organisation.

Their vision is to provide support in order to expedite the launch of new technologies and services to enhance and improve patient care and positively contribute to the regional economy.
