South London researcher wants award win to boost her academic career
A south London researcher is hoping her award win will help to boost her academic research career at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Haematology Registrar Dr Jennifer Vidler is a winner of this year’s Royal College of Physicians (RCP) and NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) Trainee Awards. The scheme recognises the outstanding contributions of NHS clinicians to the conduct of NIHR CRN portfolio research studies. Speaking about her award win, Dr Vidler said:
“I am so pleased to have my research achievements recognised by the RCP and NIHR. This is a celebration of the whole team who contributed to vital COVID-19 clinical trials at the Princess Royal University Hospital over the past 18 months.
“My hope is that this achievement will help my development as an academic clinician, and I am looking forward to starting as an NIHR Associate Principal Investigator working within King’s College Hospital’s haematology team in the coming weeks.”
Applicants were required to outline their contribution to the leadership of several NIHR CRN portfolio studies with a particular focus on:
- how they demonstrate clinical leadership enabling their organisation to increase its participation in clinical studies
- how they engaged with patients to inform them of new opportunities to participate in clinical research
- their contribution to successful delivery of clinical research studies, with a particular emphasis on industry (commercial contract) studies.
