Frimley Health Emergency Medicine Consultant appointed as RCEM/NIHR Associate Professor

Dr Sarah Wilson has been appointed as a Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM) and NIHR Clinical Research Network Associate Professor. The RCEM/NIHR Clinical Research Network Associate Professor scheme is open to clinicians who are members or fellows of the RCEM and who demonstrate excellence in research and leadership.

Sarah is an Emergency Medicine Consultant at Wexham Park Hospital, part of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust and is also the Trauma and Emergency Care Specialty Research Lead for the NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

Sarah begins her professorship in January 2024. The post is for three years and requires 1PA (four hours/week) of protected time. Sarah is very grateful for support with this from Frimley Health Charity and from Frimley Health R&D department.

On why she decided to apply for the professorship, Sarah wanted to dedicate more time to research, and make the most of the additional support and the opportunities for professional development available through the scheme.

The protected time will be used to deliver NIHR portfolio projects locally and also give Sarah time to develop her own research projects. She is currently involved with aortic dissection research and hopes to develop the next stage of this project. Sarah is also keen to develop other research projects with the overall aim of improving the research opportunities offered to patients in emergency departments and ensuring that people involved in research represent the local
population.
