Finalists revealed for 2019 Greater Manchester Clinical Research Awards

The finalists for the 2019 Greater Manchester Clinical Research Awards have been revealed ahead of the annual ceremony next month.

More than 200 nominations were received across the 13 awards categories, with submissions coming from all 14 of the Greater Manchester trusts, primary care, academia and other local partners.

The quality of nominations once again made it extremely difficult for the judging panel to select the final shortlist.

The standard was also very high in the new categories introduced for 2019 – Early Career Researcher of the Year and the Team Excellence Award for Patient Experience.

Debbie Vinsun, Chief Operating Officer for NIHR Clinical Research Network Greater Manchester, said: “The awards simply couldn’t happen without the engagement of staff across our network and I would like to thank everyone who took the time and effort to complete a form.

“For the first time in the seven-year history of the awards, we were delighted to also receive some nominations from patients. It was particularly touching to hear from these participants, who felt compelled to tell us their story because the standard of care they received from staff in our network has left such a lasting impression on their lives.

“The achievements described in all the forms were another reminder of the continued hard work and dedication being shown by the talented staff around our region in various research settings. Everyone who was nominated deserves great credit.

"I would like to congratulate each of our finalists, who have all clearly made outstanding contributions over the past year. We look forward to welcoming them, along with all our guests, to the ceremony next month.”

The award winners will be revealed during a black tie ceremony in Manchester city centre on the evening of Thursday 7 November 2019.

This year’s awards are in association with Syneos Health, sponsors of our Research Team of the Year category.
