Fantastic start to 2021 for Participant in Research Experience Survey (PRES)!

PRES is the way in which the NIHR Clinical Research Network North East and North Cumbria captures feedback from research participants to better understand their experience of taking part in research.

The benefits of using PRES, an online survey completed by participants include:

  • Quick and easy, one step data entry and analysis
  • Access to near real-time participant feedback for study teams, enabling faster response to any local improvement to participant experience
  • Greater opportunities to engage with participants and build ongoing relationships
  • The ability to link an experience to a study and a site

It is really important to gather PRES responses from a range of studies to ensure our research participants have a positive experience.

PRES has continued to run through the Covid pandemic and recently has given the opportunity to gather data from a number of Covid vaccine trials in healthy volunteers and test a different route to approaching people.

Chris Speed, Deputy Chief Operating Officer said: “I am delighted with the responses to PRES. January has been a very successful month in particular thanks to our local Covid vaccine trials embracing PRES.

"I would like to thank all the staff that have embedded PRES in their studies and congratulate them on the excellent feedback they are getting on the experience they are providing. Teams are making participants feel valued and valuable and very importantly at this time, safe.

"I’d also like to thank all of our participants who support our research. We put people at the heart of what we do and PRES the best way we can demonstrate this philosophy.”

January 2021 has been a brilliant month for PRES in both the quality and quantity of responses. With new studies opening it is important we embed PRES in their processes and consider how we can incorporate it in those paused studies that are restarting. With new digital processes come new digital opportunities and having PRES as an easy to access digital solution we hope to see the recent increase in PRES activity continue throughout 2021.

Well done to everyone supporting PRES and making it a routine part of your research!
