Colleagues and partners from across the region’s research community came together to celebrate a decade of research impact and excellence for CRN Yorkshire and Humber.

The event, held in Leeds on 16 September 2024, was held to thank everyone involved in making research happen across the region and to celebrate the very best of our achievements.

Since its launch by NIHR in April 2024, CRN Yorkshire and Humber (Y&H) has helped to bring high-quality research opportunities to people across the region – with more than 1 million participants in that time.

After being opened by Professor Chris Morley as the Nominated Executive Director for the CRN Y&H, the celebration began by reflecting on notable achievements during the network’s lifetime led by Clinical Director Professor Alistair Hall.

Our community research champions then shared inspiring personal experiences of their journeys into research.

An expert panel looked back at the impact of COVID-19 and how the power of the network was harnessed to tackle the unimaginable challenges of that time bringing new opportunities to the region in the latest vaccine research.

Partners in industry shared key successes from collaborations across the region and projects leading work to reach our communities shared the impacts and the vision for the future to continue the journey of research inclusion.

A further expert panel discussion explored the importance of partnerships and collaborations now and in the future.

During the course of the event, delegates also had the opportunity to view an exhibition of posters showcasing the best of the region’s research - with voting throughout the day to select two highly commended posters and an overall winner.

Our agile research team also brought the opportunity to take part in research studies on the day.

Outgoing Chief Operating Officer and incoming Network Director for Y&H RRDN, Amber O’Malley, closed the event by reflecting on the legacy of the network and the successes to take forward as the Research Delivery Network launches on 1 October 2024.
