CRN Greater Manchester appoints Deputy Clinical Director

Dr Andy Ustianowski has been appointed Deputy Clinical Director of NIHR Clinical Research Network Greater Manchester (CRN GM).

He joins the CRN GM senior management team and will work as deputy to Clinical Director Martin Gibson.

Dr Ustianowski is a consultant in Infectious Diseases, research lead at the regional infection unit in Manchester, and principal research lead for the North Manchester Care Organisation. 

He is based at North Manchester General Hospital, part of Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust which is part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Group.

Martin Gibson, CRN GM Clinical Director, said: “I’m delighted to announce Andy’s appointment as Deputy Clinical Director for CRN Greater Manchester.

"Andy brings to the role a great wealth of experience and knowledge of the Greater Manchester clinical research landscape and wider knowledge of both the NHS and public health sectors.

“He will be a fantastic asset to the team in this important new position. I look forward to working with him to further enhance the great performance and impact of our Greater Manchester NIHR network that aims to make taking part in research ever more accessible to our local population.”

Dr Ustianowski, who is also CRN GM specialty lead for Infectious Diseases, said: “I am delighted and excited to be gaining this position. CRN GM already performs highly in research but I hope we can improve recruitment, metrics and performance even further. I look forward to working with the excellent staff of the CRN and the research community in our region and more widely.”
