Your Path in Research

Without research, we would not have the interventions and the NHS we have today. If you provide care in the NHS then what you do and how you do it will have been influenced by research.

Research happens every day, right across the NHS and in a multitude of settings, and you can find out more about how the NIHR can help you engage with research  on the main NIHR website.

Learning Disabilities Network

The aim of this initiative is to improve the health and wellbeing of people with learning disabilities. We invite organisations and services for people with learning disabilities to sign up to hear more about high quality research and in turn, share information about opportunities for involvement in research with people who use services and staff within organisations. Sign up to the Learning Disabilities Network.

ENRICH (Enabling Research in Care Homes)

Our ENRICH network brings together care home staff, residents and their families with researchers. It provides a toolkit of resources to help care homes make the most of research and researchers to set up and run studies effectively and collaboratively in care homes. Local contact information.

Schools Research Network

The West Midlands Schools Research Network is a collaborative initiative between schools across the region and the NIHR CRN West Midlands.

Mental and physical health problems among children and young people are on the rise. It is in this context the Schools Research Network has been developed. We will be able to influence, be part of, and explore together health and care research in school settings.

By getting involved in UK-wide and global research studies, with a focus on the health and wellbeing of children and young people, school children can learn about different types of research and gain skills and confidence at an early age.

Find out more on the Network's Google site.

Research in Wider Care and Communities

This microsite has been developed as part of a Supraregional initiative by East of England, East Midlands and West Midlands Clinical Research Networks to provide one space for the research delivery community to access key information which they need to engage and recruit in wider care and community settings and services. It has been created with the help and input from colleagues in other networks and organisations. Watch our animation about research in wider settings.

Prisons Research Network

The West Midlands Prison Research Network is a collaborative initiative between prisons across the region and the NIHR CRN West Midlands.

Mental and physical health problems among prisoners have been well reported.  By getting involved in UK-wide research studies, focusing on the health and wellbeing of prisoners and young offenders, we can learn about different types of research and gain skills and confidence in this under represented community.

Midlands Health Alliance

The Midlands Health Alliance's vision is to work together to ensure a step change in the quality and quantity of high quality clinical biomedical research in the Midlands related to patients, public and industry.

By working together they will develop; a common strategy for maximising the impact of our research streams; standardised tools and approaches to clinical patient recruitment and study setup, a clear infrastructure for signposting our capabilities to industry. Find out more on the Midlands Health Alliance  website.
