A new research organisation which will support delivery of research across the full spectrum of diseases has announced its new leadership.

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) North London Regional Research Delivery Network (RRDN), which will be hosted by Barts Health NHS Trust, will launch officially in October 2024. The organisation’s senior leadership team, however, has been in post since 1 July.

Led by Dr Sharon Barrett, Network Director, the new organisation will continue to build on the successes of the NIHR Clinical Research Networks, which will be phased out at the end of September.

Joining Sharon will be a group of highly experienced senior leaders who will bring their expertise to a number of key areas.

Reggie Pestininkas joins as Strategic Development Director. Initially, he will continue to support the CRN North West London team in his capacity as Chief Operating Officer alongside his new role.

Dr Kieran McCafferty, a nationally recognised kidney specialist based at Barts Health NHS Trust, will join as Health and Care Director (Medical).

Christine Adamson will take on the role of Health and Care Director (NMAP), as she arrives from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

As Operations Director, Kylie Gyertson brings a wealth of experience as she arrives from the cancer clinical trials unit at University College London Hospitals NHS Trust.

Dr Sharon Barrett said: “I’m thrilled to have been able to appoint such a depth of talent to the senior leadership team.

“Reggie, Kieran, Christine and Kylie will all bring different skills and abilities to the mix as we look to harness the latest research across health and social care for the benefit of patients.”
