Meet Migaila Aldred: our new Agile Research Team Leader
Why did you apply for this position?
I applied for this role as it combines my 29 years of nursing experience to date. Having initially worked in primary care as a community nurse, I then moved into secondary care as a Diabetes Specialist Inpatient Nurse (DSIN) in 2004. In this role I developed an interest in clinical research, and I had the opportunity to combine my role with diabetes research. For the past 14 years I have worked in clinical research delivery, working together with colleagues from both the Universities and NHS Trusts.
What are you going to bring to the role?
In my research roles I have managed teams and balanced a large portfolio of both commercial and non-commercial trials. I have managed teams of up to 12 staff, covering eight specialities and I act as an expert resource, to advise and support those involved in clinical trials at all levels. During my time in these roles I have led my team effectively through significant changes such as the relocation of a research unit, amalgamating speciality research areas and through organisational change.
What are your hopes for research within this specialty?
My hope is to provide everyone with the opportunity to take part in research by taking research to the point of contact.
I am passionate about looking at new innovative ways to deliver research, with public involvement and engagement.
Anything else you would like to add?
I am also a non-medical prescriber, I completed my training when I was in the role of DSIN, and I have had the opportunity to continue using these skills within my research roles, as I have worked predominantly on Diabetes studies during my research career so far.
