Jacqui Newman wants to champion south London’s communities

A research practitioner has expressed her desire to champion south London’s communities through her work for the NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) South London.

Jacqui Newman joined CRN South London’s direct delivery team in June. The direct delivery team supports research in non-hospital-based settings, such as schools and care homes.

The research practitioner is keen to work towards eliminating health inequalities and to deliver impact for the people of south London. She said:

“The direct delivery team spreads awareness of research to the communities we serve. We can engage those who are the most under-served by research, and because of this engagement, people can have their say at the table.

“We engage people from the grassroots upwards, which allows us to identify barriers that affect study recruitment, and we work with the research community to mitigate and overcome these barriers in the future.

“My research work enables me to explore varied questions, experiment with cutting-edge technologies, meet interesting people who are experts in their field, participate in engaging discussions and see impactful outcomes.

“Being part of a broad network of professionals working towards better understanding and enhancing people’s lives is very rewarding, and I am so glad I joined the NIHR CRN South London.”

The NIHR CRN South London helps increase the opportunities for people to take part in health and care research.
