Inaugural ‘in person’ Patient Recruitment Centre: Blackpool Event

The region's most esteemed consultants and researchers will gather this month for a special event hosted by NIHR PRC Blackpool and Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BTH) that will shine a spotlight on health research across north west England and beyond. 

The event, ‘Research in Blackpool, Fylde, Wyre & Beyond’, will take place at The Village Hotel Blackpool on Thursday 31 March, and will include talks from Dr Gavin Galasko, Clinical Director PRC: Blackpool and Consultant Cardiologist at BTH on health and research inequalities and how Blackpool is rising to the challenge and Dr Rebecca Clark, GP and Clinical Investigator at Layton Medical Centre and Fylde Coast Clinical Research on the role of primary care in research. 

Other speakers include: Professor Enitan Carroll, Clinical Director NIHR Clinical Research Network NWC, Professor Dinesh Saralaya, Clinical Director PRC: Bradford Consultant Respiratory Physician and National Clinical Lead for Industry Respiratory Medicine NIHR, Professor Yan Yiannakou Clinical Director PRC: Newcastle Consultant Neurogastroenterologist.

PRC: Blackpool is one of five national Patient Recruitment Centres purpose-designed to increase the UK’s capacity to deliver late-phase commercial clinical research. It is co-located with  the Lancashire Cardiac Centre and Lancashire Haematology Centre, which are centres of excellence focused on offering the latest cutting edge treatments. It’s research active staff cover more than 20 clinical specialties and include world-renowned experts in Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Diabetes, Gastroenterology, Acute Medicine, Oncology and Haematology.
