CRNs go back to school

Two CRNs joined forces to talk to pupils about research at a recent NHS engagement event at a school in central London.

Chidi Onyejiaka, Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement Lead at CRN North Thames, together with Lorraine O'Connell, Senior Research Practitioner at CRN North West London, spoke to approximately 150 Year 10 pupils at the event, at St Marylebone School in Westminster.

Lorraine and Chidi manned a stall, as did NHS colleagues from a variety of services, taking the opportunity to speak to pupils as they circulated around the room.

Chidi, in the centre in the photo, said: “It was great to speak to the young people and answer any questions they had. We were most commonly asked what we enjoy most about our job and how they could get involved in research.

“The students said they found our table interesting and interactive.”

Lorraine, on the extreme right in the photo, added: “This was an example of two things we are both passionate about as organisations coming together - taking research out into the community and working jointly to raise the profile of research across central and north London.”
