CRN Kent, Surrey and Sussex – Supporting medicine safety for older people through research

Date: 28 February 2024
Time: 14:00 to 17:00

The public are invited to join a free event about making medicine safer for people over the age of 65. At the event, findings from the PRIME study (Predicting Medication - related harm in older people after hospital discharge) will be shared, along with an update on PRIME-3 study progress.

Our research group has developed a calculator to predict whether older people are at low, medium, or high risk of medication related harm when discharged from hospital. In PRIME-3 study, we are using this calculator, together with an existing NHS initiative called the Discharge Medicine Service (DMS) to optimise medication safety.

Hospitals involved in this research are:

  • Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton
  • Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust
  • Eastbourne District General Hospital
  • Southport and Ormskirk Hospital
  • Royal Stoke University Hospital

To book a place, please email Kennis Lau on kennis.lau@nhs.net, or Dr Khalid Ali on khalid.ali10@nhs.net

This event is kindly sponsored by British Society of Gerontology.
