Case study: Meet Jazz, Study Support Manager for CRN Wessex

Jazz Bartholomew, Study Support Manager

I have been working in various clinical research delivery and management roles since 2015. I joined the Clinical Research Network in 2018 working as an Assistant Research Portfolio Manager. In February 2023, I moved into my role of Study Support Manager for Primary Care, Public Health and Social Care. I am currently working part-time in this role whilst working on my PhD, I  share my study support manager role with my colleague Amanda Pattie.

As a study support manager in this area of research, my role involves supporting the development of our research portfolio in the community space. This includes working closely with organisations working in this space, as well as developing relationships with new organisations that would like to be involved in the delivery of research such as care homes and the voluntary sector. We promote and support the Enabling Research in Care Homes scheme and work closely with our contacts nationally to support. We also offer research study opportunities where possible in these settings and raise the profile of  NIHR research to the public and professionals.

My role also includes supporting local researchers to set up their research which could include site identification,  study set up advice and Attributing the costs of health and social care Research & Development (AcoRD) specialist support. Alongside this work, I support our training team with the delivery of Principal Investigator training.

Please contact publichealthandsocialcare.crnwessex@nihr.ac.uk if you’re interested in any of these workstreams.
