Case study: Meet James, our new North West Coast ENRICH Lead

We spoke to James about his role as ENRICH Lead in the North West Coast.

James Connolly has worked with the Clinical Research Network, North West Coast (CRN NWC) since 2015 and is the Research Operations Controller for Primary Care, Public Health, and Health Services Research as well as research in social care settings.

James is also the ENRICH (Enabling Research in Care Homes) Lead for the North West Coast Research Network. We spoke to James about one of his main responsibilities as ENRICH Lead:

"I work across commercial and non-commercial research to identify GP practices and sites in community settings such as care homes, prisons and schools that would like to be involved in particular research areas.  I help with study start-ups for new researchers along with study support for sites during their time on a research study. Previously I have worked in the NIHR with the Taskforce team assisting NHS trusts as a data administrator as well as an Industry Facilitator for commercial research. Overall I have worked in the NIHR  for around 8 years."

"The Enabling Research in Care Homes (ENRICH) initiative aims to inform & support Care Home staff about research & how they can contribute to research, see some further information on ENRICH and the website by clicking here – https://enrich.nihr.ac.uk/"

"If you decide to sign up for the ENRICH initiative, we may contact you about various items such as gaining feedback on a proposed research study, sending you some information about an event, sending you a newsletter, or offering your staff or your residents the opportunity to take part in a study. Signing up to ENRICH does not mean that you would be obligated to take part in any research, we just want to be able to reach the right people who can make a decision about whether or not they would be interested in participating or contributing."

If you would like to find out more about the research opportunities that are available for Care Homes or sign up to ENRICH please contact a member of the team at - enrich.crnnwcoast@nihr.ac.uk
