This exciting new post will provide an opportunity for you to help develop, support and drive forward clinical research. The Clinical Research Network of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) is led by a National Coordinating Centre, and operates through 15 Local Clinical Research Networks (LCRNs). The Clinical Research Network Greater Manchester (CRN: GM) drives clinical research delivery performance across the locality, and champions the role of clinical research in the NHS at every level.
As part of a national network of NIHR CRN leaders, individual CRN leaders will drive the clinical research agenda, which is one of national importance. The leadership roles in each CRN are both high-profile and demanding, leaders will be expected to be ambassadors for the NIHR.
As well as a passion for bringing clinical research opportunities to patients, LCRN leaders require an in-depth understanding of how the local NHS “works”, an ability to forge and maintain productive partnerships across organisational boundaries, and the tenacity to deliver stretching targets in challenging environments. As well as being respected across their geographical patch, LCRN leaders will also be key players in an organisation with an international reputation for innovation and achievement in the field of clinical research delivery.
The CRN: Greater Manchester which is hosted by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, recognises the importance of a flexible, multi-skilled research delivery workforce able to respond to the ever changing demands of the NIHR portfolio and the NHS, enabling research opportunities across multiple organisations and agencies.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing clinical and professional leadership and line management to the core team clinical research nurses as well as having clinical accountability for Clinical Support Officers and Research Practitioners who work clinically as part of their role.
Working in partnership with the Clinical Research Operations Manager and with the support of the Research Delivery Managers and Chief Operating Officer, you will support the work of GM CRN in delivering portfolio research to the highest standards. The Research Nurse Manager will also act as a reference point for research nurse managers from across the partner organisations of NIHR CRN GM.
You will be a member of the CRN GM management team and contribute to the development of a strategy to deliver the NIHR CRN high level objectives, setting targets and performance managing work delivered involving the clinical research nurses workforce. You will need to have the ability to interpret national guidance and legislation and develop and implement local policy to ensure compliance.
