An exciting post has become available for a Research Nurse to work across University Hospitals Dorset in Oncology. The Oncology Research Department is very active at UHD offering trials in breast, colorectal, urology, upper GI, head and neck and lung cancers. The post holder will work closely with the Senior Cancer Research Nurses, Cancer Nurse Specialists, Cancer Nurse Practitioners, and Consultants to manage clinical research trials in cancer. The successful candidate would ideally have significant experience in oncology, and up to date knowledge of cancer treatments. Previous clinical research experience would also be an advantage. You will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients participating in clinical trials. This will involve the identification, recruitment, education and monitoring of trial patients and the collection and documentation of accurate data. You will be required to prioritise your own workload and be responsible for the management of a caseload of clinical trial patients. You will be required to work autonomously and will also be responsible for identifying new Research opportunities, coordinating and managing a number of clinical trials.

This post is a new opportunity to work across both the Royal Bournemouth and Poole Hospital sites, on set working days to be agreed, and so the candidate must be able to demonstrate good communication skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, be highly organised, flexible, have good attention to detail and have the ability to adapt your working day according to what opportunities arise.

The post will be predominantly working within the oncology team, however there will be a need to be flexible in your working approach, and to provide cross-cover and collaboration within the Division where required and possibly other Research Divisions.

Informal discussions are encouraged, therefore if you’d like to know more please contact Senior Oncology Research Nurses: Emma Sharland (Royal Bournemouth) on 0300 019 6740 or Louise Heckford (Poole) on 0300 019 8426
