Workforce lead encourages south London CRPs to join the Accredited Register

CRN South London’s Workforce Development Lead, Nhlanhla Mguni, is encouraging Clinical Research Practitioners (CRPs) to join the NIHR’s CRP Academy for Healthcare Science Accredited Register.

The CRP Accredited Register is part of the Professional Standards Authority’s accredited register programme that supports over 90,000 practitioners across different health and care occupational groups.

By joining the register, CRPs can demonstrate to patients, colleagues and employers that they are competent, trustworthy and committed to achieving high standards of personal behaviour and technical competence. Nhlanhla praised the work of CRPs in delivering high quality clinical research across south London. She said:

“Clinical Research Practitioners are a vital part of the research workforce. The number of CRPs in the research workforce has increased in response to the expansion of clinical research activity over the last few years.

“Developing the professional identity of this group, recognising their expertise and enabling effective professional development is a strategic priority for the research workforce, which is why I’d encourage CRPs in south London to join the Accredited Register as it demonstrates the exceptional professional standards of these practitioners to others.”

Clinical Research Practitioners work in research delivery roles that have a research participant facing element within clinical environments and other health and social care settings. Examples of the type of roles carried out by CRPs include: Clinical Studies Officer, Research Practitioner, Clinical Trials Practitioner, Clinical Trials Officer, among others.

The CRP Accredited Register launched in March of this year following work between the NIHR Clinical Research Network, the Department of Health and Social Care, the Academy for Healthcare Science and others.

Further information about the CRP Accredited Register, including on how to submit an application to register, is available on the NIHR's CRP Academy for Healthcare Science Accredited Register website.
