Royal Cornwall Hospital Fight Corona Virus with New Research Team

RCHT corona v1 0

The Research, Development & Innovation Department acted the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) have created a dedicated Research Team as part of their response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Experienced research staff ranging from administrators, health care assistants, nurses and doctors have joined the team and now work together to put research at the heart of the hospital’s Covid-19 response.

The new team was overwhelmed by the offers of help and support that they received from the busy consultants across many specialty areas needed to run the vital prioritised research studies. Helen Chenoweth, Research Team Leader, who is co-ordinating the team said:

‘During this difficult time the importance of COVID research has been embraced by the whole Trust. The Research & Development Department has worked tirelessly to ensure patients are offered any research study opportunities and treatments that are available at the RCHT.’

As the study sponsors began to invite the Trust to get involved with their studies the RD&I Set Up Team worked with the newly formed Covid-19 Research Team to ensure they were open and recruiting patients as soon as possible. The team are running a growing portfolio of Covid-19 studies; some are comparing possible treatments, others are closely monitoring patients and collecting and analysing data and or samples.
