Research participants in East Midlands use survey to highlight positive experiences

97% of research volunteers in the East Midlands announced that they would consider taking part in another research study, according to new data released by the NIHR Clinical Research Network East Midlands.

Of the 1,177 respondents to the Participant in Research Experience Survey (PRES) across the region, 99% said that they were always treated with courtesy and respect by the researchers.

The PRES was conducted during 2020/21 across the East Midlands and provided research participants with an opportunity to feed back on their experience, as well as suggest improvements to support the future delivery of research.

The majority of responses came from research linked to COVID-19, including vaccine trials and Urgent Public Health Studies, a key part of the research response to the pandemic.

Respondents were also invited to share what was positive about their research experience, with many using the opportunity to highlight their experience with research staff across the region.

95% of respondents said that they felt researchers valued their taking part in the research, and a further 9% said that the information that they received prepared them for their experience.
