Report shows impact of research delivered in CRN Greater Manchester region

Greater Manchester, East Cheshire and East Lancashire's vital contribution to NIHR research delivery in 2021/22 has been outlined in a new report.

The 2021/22 Strategic Impact Report has been published by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network (CRN) Greater Manchester.

The brochure demonstrates how the region's research community showed great resilience to provide a broad research offering which gave over 80,000 local participants the opportunity to be part of research over the year.

The year saw the continuation of COVID-19 research alongside the recovery of the local system's capacity to deliver life-changing research in all other health and care specialty areas.

Achievements in the report are categorised in chapters with the titles of CRN Greater Manchester's values of Relevant Research, Inclusive Involvement and Exceptional Experience.

Roger Spencer, Chairman of the CRN Greater Manchester Partnership Board, said:

"In line with our three values, staff across our network have worked tirelessly to deliver health and care research that is relevant to our region, inclusive to our communities and provides exceptional experiences. An enormous thank you to everyone who has played a part in this effort.

"Equally, research would not be possible without the many people who give their time and effort to take part in studies, raise public awareness, and contribute in countless other ways. Thank you to everyone."
