Nominations are now open for the West of England Research Awards!
After an unprecedented couple of years, the Clinical Research Network West of England (CRN WE) will be hosting an awards ceremony to recognise the hard work and achievements of those working within research in the region.
This inaugural ceremony will acknowledge the work of CRN-supported staff during the last two years (from April 1 2020). Full details of the nine award categories can be found at the bottom of this article.
Ifan Jones, Chief Operating Officer for the CRN WE said: “I’m excited to announce that nominations for the first ever West of England Research Awards are now open. This will be a great opportunity for us to recognise the incredible work that has been achieved in our region over the last few years.
“I’d encourage everyone from the research community to nominate an individual or team who you feel deserves recognition.”

Nominations close on Monday 17 January 2022 at 5pm.
The winners will be announced at an online awards ceremony on the 24 March 2022 from 12:30-1:30pm.
Award categories
Rising Star: An individual, team or site that is in the early stages of their research journey, but is already making positive changes and significant contributions.
Collaboration in Research: Individuals, teams or sites who have come together and made a significant impact. Those involved, with their combined skill sets, have collaborated to great effect to achieve a shared goal.
Innovative Recruitment: An individual or team who has developed innovative and/or creative participant recruitment strategies. Through their work they might have overcome a challenge or obstacle by coming up with new ideas for recruitment.
Supporting and developing colleagues: An individual or team who has developed and delivered initiatives to support workforce development and/or wellbeing.
Public engagement and inclusion: An individual or team who are making outstanding contributions to include and engage patients and the public in the delivery of research. This may include promoting equity of access for people to get involved in research, efforts to provide an inclusive participant experience, or promotion of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) initiatives, recognising the obstacles to participation for different demographics in our local communities.
Clinical Engagement: An individual or team who has bridged the gap between clinical and research or an individual who doesn’t work in research who has promoted research in their clinical area.
Improvement Project: An individual or team who has initiated improvement to a process or way or working, in fulfilment of continuous improvement for the benefit of patients and value for money.
Investigator of the Year: An Investigator who has made a significant contribution to research in the West of England.
CRSL of the Year: A Clinical Research Speciality Lead, Clinical Divisional Lead or GP Champion who has made a significant contribution to their specialty area.
