NIHR CRN West Midlands pays tribute to Covid-19 researchers and participants on International Clinical Trials Day

NIHR CRN West Midlands is marking International Clinical Trials Day (20 May) with the news that in the last year 86,808 people in the region have taken part in clinical research, 67,674 of them in Covid-related studies.

Network Clinical Director, Professor Matthew Brookes says: ‘The UK has led the way in the testing and development of COVID-19 treatments, diagnostic tests and vaccines with invaluable input from patients and clinicians in the West Midlands. Our collaborations are offering research opportunities to thousands of patients and we thank everyone who is taking part.’

Covid-19 vaccine research is continuing in the region - more information is available at www.nhs.uk.researchcontact if you would like to volunteer.

At the same time, other research which was paused during the pandemic, is continuing to get going again - you can sign up at www.bepartofresearch.nihr.ac.uk.
