New research director of nursing for North West

Janette Dunkerley, Assistant Chief Nurse for Research and Innovation at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), is to take on an additional role as Director of Nursing for NIHR Clinical Research Network Greater Manchester and NIHR Clinical Research Network North West Coast. 

Janette will carry out this newly established position that spans the footprints covered by the Greater Manchester and North West Coast CRNs, which support the delivery of research across the North West of England.

In this role, Janette will collaborate and engage with Chief Nurses employed by partner organisations across the region. The new position has been created as part of NIHR’s commitment to shape and deliver professional leadership and strategic initiatives for nurses and midwives.

Janette will help partner organisations strengthen the support and leadership for NIHR-funded nurses, midwives and allied health professionals, working across health and care sectors, and facilitate the advancement of these professions across the region and within the national NIHR infrastructure.

Janette said: “I am absolutely delighted to take on this role and I am looking forward to working with senior leaders across the region to strengthen the work of nursing and midwifery NIHR funded programmes and to demonstrate the unique contribution of our professions.”
