New Primary Care Specialty Lead appointed for Somerset: Meet Dr Elizabeth Alborough, a GP at Barton Surgery in Dawlish
Why did you apply for the position of Primary Care (Somerset) Specialty Lead?
I have a passion for research and it has been one aspect of my GP career that's helped keep me enthusiastic. I wanted to continue the research theme and instil some of my positivity to fellow GPs.
Why is research in primary care so important?
Primary care is where the most enduring relationships exist between doctors and their patients. This is often a great place to encourage research, where high levels of trust exist and the follow up can be so local.
What are your hopes for research within primary care?
I hope to increase the numbers of patients enrolling in trials (and increase numbers of GP practices committed to engaging in research activity).
