New Lay Representative appointed to CRN Kent, Surrey and Sussex Partnership Board

NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) Kent, Surrey and Sussex is pleased to announce that Abi Maguire has been appointed to the Partnership Board as a Lay Representative.

Abi has taken part in research at Ashford and St Peter’s NHS Foundation Trust and  is a former A-Level Ethics and Philosophy teacher. She has an MA in Bioethics and Medical Law and is currently undertaking a PhD in Education at St. Mary's University in London.

Abi said: “Having been a research participant with a professional interest in research I am looking forward to being part of the CRN Kent, Surrey and Sussex Partnership Board, ensuring the patient voice is included and heard.

“I took part in research to help other people and I am continuing this through being a Lay Representative for CRN Kent, Surrey and Sussex. I am interested to see the other side of research, learning about research processes and the resources the NIHR puts into ensuring health research takes place within our NHS.”

Mark Hayward, Clinical Lead for Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement for CRN Kent, Surrey and Sussex said:  “We are delighted that Abi will be joining the Partnership Board. She will join a group of lay members from across Kent, Surrey and Sussex who help to ensure that our clinical research is relevant to patients and members of the public.”
