Network appoints new Deputy Clinical Director

Professor Matthew Brookes, a Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust has been appointed Deputy Clinical Director of the Clinical Research Network West Midlands (CRN WM). Professor Brookes is also an Honorary Professor of Gastroenterology at the University of Wolverhampton. 

The Network’s Clinical Director, Professor Jeremy Kirk, said: ‘We’re delighted to announce this appointment. Matthew brings a wealth of experience and also enthusiasm to this post, and we look forward to working closely together in the future’.

Professor Brookes added: ‘This is an exciting time for research in the West Midlands and it’s wonderful to be able to work alongside Professor Kirk and the CRN team.’

Professor Brookes currently holds or has previously held a number of senior national roles within research and academic medicine, gastroenterology and inflammatory bowel disease. In addition, he is also Specialty Group Lead for gastroenterology for the CRN WM.
