Network appoints new Community Trust Clinical Research Leads

The NIHR Clinical Research Network West Midlands  is pleased to announce it has appointed two new Clinical Research Specialty Leads  with responsibility for Community Trust Research.

Dr Louise Warburton,  Associate Medical Director for Shropshire Community NHS Trust with responsibility for Research, and  Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Keele University, says: “I am  delighted to be appointed and am looking forward to bringing a ‘can do’ research approach and experience to the regional team.”

Dr Ian Maidment, Reader in Clinical Pharmacy at Aston University adds: “Most patients receive the majority of their treatment in the community, meaning  Community Trusts and community-based services are key for the NHS. I am really looking forward to building research in the Community Trusts and the wider community environment across the West Midlands.”  

Dr Maidment is an experienced NHS Pharmacist and currently leads two NIHR studies in mental health, focussed in the community: RESOLVE and MEDIATE

The Network’s Clinical Director, Professor Matthew Brookes said: “We’re thrilled to announce these appointments. Ian and Louise  bring a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the Network, and we look forward to working closely together in the future”.
