Hepatology local specialty leads recognised for their achievements in delivering research

For the second year, a collection of awards has been handed out to five local specialty leads supporting research in Hepatology. The awards were given in recognition of the work the hepatology teams in the Local Clinical Research Networks have done to improve the delivery of clinical research studies on the NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) Portfolio.

Professor William Rosenberg, CRN National Specialty Lead for Hepatology says:

“Much of the work to improve access for patients to clinical research studies in Hepatology is done by the local leads. They are aware of the barriers being faced locally and have made worked hard to make research more visible and accessible to both patients and clinicians.”

Dr Steven Masson, Local Hepatology Specialty lead at CRN North East and North Cumbria, who accepted both the best recruitment to time and target which is a key marker for good delivery and leadership on behalf of the CRN says:

“I am delighted to have received these awards on behalf of the North East North Cumbria Hepatology Specialty Group. We have a dedicated team of researchers, including local Chief and Principal investigators, who are passionate about promoting opportunities for research at every opportunity. With excellent local CRN support, we aim to deliver a shared vision ensuring North East North Cumbria is the best place to undertake Hepatology research.”
