Greater Manchester bronchiectasis group strives to standardise services across region

The Greater Manchester Bronchiectasis Group, orchestrated by Dr Abdul Ashish, NIHR CRN Greater Manchester Specialty Lead for Respiratory Disorders, has met for a second time.

The group, which formed in November 2020, met on 26 March 2021. The engagement across the region has been exceptional with leading specialist consultants and nurses in attendance.

One of the group's key aims is to standardise the bronchiectasis services available to patients across the region. Progression here has already been made through the sharing of best practices, information and resources by different trusts in support of a more equitable service.

Research opportunities, including upcoming bronchiectasis studies were discussed. And it is hoped the formation of this group can help bring more bronchiectasis studies to Greater Manchester.

A huge thank you to those who have contributed so far. We hope to arrange the next meeting for the summer (date to be announced) and we encourage all those involved in delivering bronchiectasis healthcare in Greater Manchester to join, including physiotherapists, Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) and specialist nurses.
