CRN Wessex has launched its annual participant research experience survey (PRES) for the third year running.

The 2019/20 survey, which will be delivered throughout trusts, general practices and other research sites across Wessex, will run throughout November and offer those attending a research appointment for an NIHR CRN portfolio study the chance to offer feedback on their experience of being involved.

Participant experience is a key part of research delivery. The PRES aims to help CRN Wessex and its partners to better understand the experience of research participants so that helpful changes to improve experience can be made where there is scope to do so.

This year, Wessex will deliver four surveys after developing bespoke feedback forms for adults, carers, children and young people.

This year’s survey have been designed by a working group of staff and patients from partner organisations in Wessex. There has been additional support from R&D managers, senior research nurses, Patient Research Ambassadors and research participants.

Wessex achieved 400 responses to its 2018/19 survey, which showed that 96% of research participants had a good experience of taking part in research. With the support of its partner organisations, Wessex hopes to gather 650 responses to the 2019/20 survey.

CRN Wessex will analyse the data gathered to create a Wessex wide picture of participant experience. Results are expected in spring 2020, with a lay summary made available to research participants and the public.
