CRN Wessex appoints new Chief Operating Officer

CRN Wessex is delighted to announce the appointment of a new Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Clare Rook, the Network’s Deputy COO, will take over from Rebecca McKay as COO at the beginning of August 2021.

Of her appointment, Clare Rook said: "It’s an exciting time to be leading the Network, as we look to build upon our response to the pandemic and increase the opportunities for patients and the public to get involved in health and social care research.

“Since the outbreak of the pandemic, our Network has been at the forefront of COVID-19 research, with nine urgent public health studies led by the region.

"It has been a record-breaking year for Wessex, with over 93,000 participants joining studies supported by the NIHR CRN in the twelve months between April 2020 and March 2021.

“As we look forward, addressing the negative impact that the pandemic has had on other health and social care research is a key priority for us, and research teams across the region have been working hard to restart studies on our non-Covid portfolio, whilst continuing to deliver vital Covid-19 research.”

Clare Rook added: “I'm thrilled to be taking on this new role and I look forward to working with our partners across the region to build on our success.”
