CRN Kent, Surrey and Sussex administrator’s new role supporting COVID-19 research delivery
My name is Julie Gardner and I’m a Senior Administrator for the National Institute of Health Research Clinical Research Network (CRN) Kent Surrey and Sussex. I line manager an administration team of three people - two in Canterbury, Kent and one in Falmer, Brighton. I am also PA to the Chief Operating Officer, Deputy Chief Operating Officer and support the Clinical Directors.
For two days a week, I have been deployed to assist Medway NHS Foundation Trust, in Gillingham, Kent with data entry for the CCP-UK study. The data I am looking at is very interesting as it highlights different stages of COVID-19 in patients and the outcome. Going forward I will be doing more difficult tasks and I’ll be helping with other research information as time progresses. This work is different to my normal role as I do not usually deal directly with studies, or work on data entry.
I am also assisting the R&D team at the trust with their Wellbeing Hub. I will be setting up sessions for them using an online event management system. The Wellbeing Hub and using online systems to set up events and capture data that way is something I am more familiar with. For the other two days of my working week, I continue to do my normal role at CRN Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
It feels great to be involved in such an important part of COVID-19 research and I am happy to help in any way I can. It is important to have the research data inputted quickly so we can get closer to finding a vaccine and treatment for this disease.
