Claire Pegg appointed CRN Kent, Surrey and Sussex Chief Nurse Research Lead

NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) Kent, Surrey and Sussex are delighted to announce that Claire Pegg has been appointed as our Chief Nurse Research Lead. This is a new role that Claire will be taking up from 1 April 2023.

Within this key leadership role, Claire will assist the CRN Kent, Surrey and Sussex executive to integrate and embed research within the nursing, midwifery, and Allied Health Professions workforce across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

She will provide leadership, advice, and support to ensure that there is a strategic focus to grow, sustain and develop the nursing, midwifery, and Allied Health Professions research workforce.

Claire will work closely with the NIHR Nursing and Midwifery office to support the delivery of a CRN-wide Nursing and Midwifery Plan and will be a crucial link between the LCRN and the CRN Coordinating Centre.

Jo Zamani, CRN Kent, Surrey and Sussex Chief Operating Officer said: “We are looking forward to working with Claire to develop and engage our nurses, midwives, and Allied Health Professions with research careers which will in turn, strengthen local research capacity for our workforce.

Claire said: “I am very excited to be stepping into this role at the LCRN. There is a real need to support staff across the health and social care settings to consider research as part of their role, as this will collectively drive forward the change required to impact our patients.”
