Bristol-based Trainee Anaesthesic Research Group win prestigious national award
A local anaesthesia research group has won a national award from the Royal College of Anesthetists and the NIHR Clinical Research Network.
The Severn Trainee Anaesthetic Research (STAR) Group has won the Trainee Network Research Award for 2019. The award recognises NHS research groups that have made outstanding contributions to NIHR portfolio studies. The STAR Group was chosen for this award for their continuous commitment to research.
The STAR Group is an established trainee-led network of anaesthetic and intensive care research physicians. The STAR group is affiliated with the Bristol School of Anaesthesia and Society of Anaesthetists of the South Western Region (SASWR), and aims to enhance research opportunities for its members within the Severn Deanery.
This award recognises STAR's excellent clinical leadership which has enabled the organisation to increase participation in clinical studies through patient engagement and contribution to successful research delivery.
Dr Katie Samuel, the STAR executive chair, said: "We are beyond delighted that STAR have won this prestigious national research award. This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of not just the STAR committee, but all anaesthetic trainees in the Severn region over the last 5 years. Hopefully it will also bring further recognition to the impactful and high quality research that trainee groups are able to produce."
The award will be presented to the STAR Group at the Anaesthesia Research 2019 two-day conference in December. Many congratulations to the STAR Group for their hard work and this amazing achievement!
