Bournemouth recruit first patient in Europe to study

The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (RBCH) have recruited the first patient in Europe to a study testing a medical device on patients with a coronary artery lesion.

Dr Kodoth, a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, said: "The study is an important multicentre study comparing coronary angiogram based fractional flow reserve (FFR/ iFR) with pressure wire based fractional flow reserve (FFR/iFR).

“This study will help to validate the algorithm and software of coronary angiogram based coronary flow measurements. If the study shows that coronary angiogram based flow measurements are as good as pressure wire based flow measurement, then the study will be practice changing landmark study.

“The research team in the cardiac department at The Royal Bournemouth Hospital is proud to have recruited the first patient for the study in Europe."
