An exciting announcement marked International Clinical Trials Day in Leicester

On International Clinical Trials Day 2021, NIHR Patient Recruitment Centre (PRC): Leicester supported the announcement of a new ‘Leicester’s Research Registry’, led by the research and innovation service of our host trust, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (Leicester’s Hospitals). Leicester’s Research Registry will help those working in research to reach out to local volunteers who have signed up to find out about opportunities to get involved in research taking place in Leicester’s Hospitals, or that is led by hospital staff in community settings. PRC: Leicester will use this new registry to support recruitment to its studies.

Gail Melvin, PRC Research Business Manager, explains: “We are really pleased that PRC Leicester is part of the new registry. When we were recruiting to a recent vaccine trial we were overwhelmed with the response from local people who wanted to support health research. The registry will help us to efficiently share opportunities to participate in research in Leicester that take place at the PRC.”

Visit the research registry page on the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust's website for more information. Read our ENSEMBLE 2 news article to find out more about ENSEMBLE 2 and how PRC Leicester met its recruitment target six weeks after recruiting the first volunteer.
