96% of research participants would consider joining another study

A report published by the Clinical Research Network (CRN) West of England has shown that the majority of people who volunteered to take part in research in the region would consider taking part in a study again.

Of the 1,126 people surveyed, 96% said they would consider taking part in research again, highlighting that it is an overwhelmingly positive experience for participants in the region.

96% felt the researchers had valued them taking part in the research and 96% felt the information they received before taking part prepared them for their experience on the study.

The survey also highlighted areas where improvements could be made. Of those surveyed, 15% did not know how they would receive the results of the research. The CRN West of England will work with research staff in the region to implement several recommendations to improve the experience of taking part in research.

Ifan Jones, Acting Chief Operating Officer for the CRN West of England said:
“The COVID-19 pandemic presented the NIHR with an unprecedented challenge, which I’m proud to say we rose to. We have worked efficiently and collaboratively to achieve incredible results which have made a meaningful impact to the public.

“Responses from last year’s PRES have shown that the workforce is an essential part of people’s experience of taking part in research. On behalf of the CRN I would like to thank everyone who is part of delivering this positive experience in the West of England.

“The report has also highlighted areas where we can improve, and we look forward to working with research teams to make taking part in studies even better for our participants.”
