The injuries and emergencies speciality is one of over 30 specialities which bring together communities of clinical practice to provide national networks of research expertise. Our membership is made up of research-interested clinicians and practitioners at both national and local levels. Our job is to ensure that injuries and emergencies studies receive the right support to ensure they are delivered successfully in the NHS.
We support and oversee a wide range of research studies. Examples range from major trauma”in road accidents or falls, burns, anaphylaxis (serious allergic reaction), asthma attack, and cardiac arrest, through to carbon monoxide poisoning, broken bones and sports injuries. In addition, this specialty area also includes some aspects of recovery and rehabilitation after injury, which takes place in a non-emergency setting.
