Training: AcoRD — 25 January 2024

Date: 25 January 2024
Time: 09:30 to 11:30
Location: North West London (virtual session)

What to expect

Attributing the costs of health and social care Research & Development (AcoRD) is a complex process and can be daunting to both researchers and research management staff. Accurate cost attribution, however, ensures that research studies are fully funded and can be set up and delivered without unnecessary delays.

Correct cost identification at the grant application stage is a requirement of all major research funders. Furthermore, all non-commercial researchers must now include cost attribution in the Schedule of Events Cost Attribution Template (SoECAT) submitted to the Health Research Authority (HRA). The SoECAT is then used by the R&D departments as the basis for assessing, arranging and confirming capacity and capability to participate in research studies.

This course will equip research management staff with the skills needed to undertake research cost attribution. The session combines theory with practical work. The attendees will participate in several practical activities.

The following topics will be covered in the course:

  • National guidance on NHS R&D costs
  • Basic principles behind the current guidance
  • Attribution process
  • Brief overview of SoECAT
  • Costing support available through CRN Study Support Service
