The aim of this programme is to develop awareness of the components of effective communications and to provide delegates with choices in the type of behaviour they might use in working with patients and colleagues.
The objectives are that, by the end of the training delegates will be able to:
Discuss the characteristics of effective communications;
Identify means of enhancing their understanding of others’ non-verbal behaviours;
Describe the characteristics of an assertive approach;
Discuss the short and longer term effects of adopting assertive behaviour;
Demonstrate the use of assertive techniques in handling a range of situations;
Outline an action plan which will give them the opportunity of practising the most valuable points of the training when they return to work.
