Accessing funds for Training Courses and Conferences 2019/20

 

The Clinical Research Network North Thames (CRN NT) are supportive of the continuing professional development of our research delivery staff members. For the financial year, 2019/20 CRN NT have allocated funds for training courses and conferences that can be accessed equitably by research delivery staff across the region via an application process.

This document details the submission process, the eligibility criteria and application form to be used by research delivery staff to apply for funding to undertake a training course or attend a conference.

Submission of your application

Please seek the approval of your Line Manager prior to submission of your application and send the completed application form and supporting information to the relevant divisional team. Applications will be reviewed on a weekly basis and you will be contacted by your Research Delivery Manager with the decision.

Eligibility criteria

  1. The research delivery staff member is fully or partially funded by CRN North Thames and has been in post for more than 6 months.
  2. Applications will not be considered if the applicant had successfully applied for support for funding from CRN North Thames in the previous financial year for the same training course/conference.
  3. Attendance at the training course/conference demonstrates:
    • Relevance to the applicant’s role
    • Benefit to the employing NHS Organisation
    • Value to CRN North Thames
  4. Evidence that the training course/conference subject area is in line with the applicant’s annual PDP.
  5. Letter of support from the applicant’s current Trust Line Manager is provided.
  6. The applicant has outlined plans to disseminate and cascade the learning as best practice from the training course/conference to relevant internal and external colleagues and organisations.
  7. The applicant can justify that the training course/conference they are applying for meets their learning needs over and beyond the existing opportunities and is able to provide this evidence.
  8. There is a maximum limit of funding available per application, this is set at £500 for training courses and £250 for conference applications. Therefore, if the applicant requires part payment for the training course/conference, relevant details to show this commitment have been provided in the application.

 *Please note, priority will be given to applications to attend training courses. Educational courses that lead to academic qualifications will not be considered by CRN North Thames.
