Case study: My Generation - Georgia's research story

Georgia's Research Story

Georgia Turner, aged 22 from Stafford, signed up to take part in the Valneva Covid-19 vaccine trial ‘on a whim’ and she is very happy she did.

Georgia, a music teacher, heard about the trial at Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust from a friend of a friend who works in the NHS.

‘I just thought ‘why not?’, she says. ‘I wanted to do something to help and I think it’s important that people of my generation step up as we are the ones who will benefit the most.

‘I have an interest in the alternative side of medicine so it’s been great to have an insight into formal medicine.

‘It’s been really easy to take part - just a few short trips to Cheadle and a few blood tests and checks. The team are all really lovely and make you feel appreciated, not like just a number on their list.

‘Taking part in research is definitely something I would recommend to others - in fact I have already encouraged lots of my friends to sign up, and I am keen to find out about other research opportunities now.’
